Feature limitation or hidden setting?

Have found that when live streaming security camera footage, any “events” that may occur while the stram is running are not recorded on the homebase.

Is this due to the connection to the live stream disabling motion sensors, is there a limitation with the software or hardware connectivity to 2 devices at the same time (homebase/mobile) and recording the output; or is there a setting somewhere I dont know about to enable recording of all event regardless of live stream being active?

Example where this is potentially an issue:

  • Event detected and notification sent to mobile device
  • User checks affected camera stream for unexpected event (ie person detected - break-in/something being stolen). I realise that vision can be manually recorded on the mobile device at the time)
  • If user goes to check for footage later, finds nothing is recorded by the homebase.

Follow up question; is this the same with doorbell cameras? (One of the selling points of these cameras is the 2 way communication between potentially a courier leaving a package and the home owner; or home owner scaring off a prowler…)

I assume from what I have seen based on the security cameras, that this 2 way communication is not recorded by the homebase… which is really not good, as these cameras would be originally purchased to record these type of events as evidence.

@dvw12 Unfortunately, that’s how these cameras operate. It has been brought up in the past, but Eufy has not made any updates or improvements.

What’s worse, is if you have family members who have access to your cameras. If they watch a live view, nothing will be recorded while they watch, even if there is movement. So make sure to let everyone know, if you click into a live event, they must record manually.

Ohh so that’s what happens… Yes I can say that doorbells have the same issue. Was wondering why my doorbell ring recordings are cut off. Makes sense now. I agree major issue. If anything, that’ll be where you would want the most recording.
