I just installed a Floodlight Cam E30. The flood lights are not turning with motion. I have set motion detection, set the dusk to dawn option. If I change the brightness the lights come on for about 3 seconds. Changing the interval does not change the duration.
What am I missing?
Why are the lights not turning on?
Enable Lights: In the Eufy app, go to Smart > Light Settings > Enable Floodlights > Motion-Activated Light and ensure it’s toggled ON.
Set to Fast Mode: Under the same settings, change the Light Activation Mode to Fast Mode for quicker response, or set Detection Type to detect all motion (not just humans) if it’s missing events.
Adjust Sensitivity: Increase motion detection sensitivity in Camera Settings > Motion Detection.
Night Vision Toggle: Try switching between Black & White and Color night vision in video settings; some users found this fixed issues with lights staying on or off.
I dealt with Eufy support and they gave me some settings to try. The end result is that Eufy suggested I return the device for a refund or exchange at Home Depot where I purchased the device.
The new device is operating differently than the device I returned. With the old device if I moved the slider for manual light brightness the light would only stay on for 2 seconds, then turn off. The replaced unit now leaves the light on until I leave the manual light page it appears to me.
I think the unit I returned was indeed defective. I will see how it works with the unit. This is my sixth camera from Eufy and is the first time I have had an issue with any of the units.
I finally found the problem. It took some digging.
I only have my system armed between the hours of midnight and 6:00 AM. That turned out to be the issue. The system must be armed for anything to work, including the motion lights.
I set up a schedule during the hours I normally have the system unarmed where the system is now armed. That schedule is set to do nothing, no cameras activated, nothing. But that is enough to get the motion sensing lights to come when motion is detected.
Thus, my system is armed 24 hours a day. One part of the schedule is set to activate the cameras between midnight and 6:00 AM. The hours between 6:00 AM and midnight the cameras are set to do nothing. The motion sensing on the lights is set from dusk to dawn so the lights do not come on during the day.
Effectively, two different settings had to be made to accomplish what I needed.
It is not really intuitive for the motion sensing lights and took some trial and error.
