YES. I finally found someone else posting about this issue! After talking to Google Home support, it’s apparently a common issue that people have reported about with Eufy Security. Mine stopped working sometime back in April.
It used to work so seamlessly for me! I would be able to tell Google, “Set [device name] to [security mode]” and it would work perfectly. I even had automations and routines in the Script Editor that were working great as well. But now, only saying, “Arm the security system” and “Disarm the security system” works. And those only switch Eufy Security to Away and Disarmed modes. None of my custom ones.
This was working before. I used Google Assistant to change modes to Home and Away every day. It stopped working a couple of months ago.
Has there been any progress ? Has the issue been retested and reproduced ? I received an email saying this was a known issue. But that was weeks ago. Has there been any progress ?
Same for me…worked for a while including Homebase 2, now the last couple of months it doesn’t…I tried all the support steps and they still nothing …email support is clueless.
This is not okay. Eufy advertises the Homebase (as well as their entire ecosystem) as compatible with Google assistant. While I can understand some compatibility issues as API’s and software evolve, a feature that was available and working well but is now gone for so long is clearly intentional.
To my eyes, it seems like the ability to utilize your Eufy system from outside of their app (and away from ads) was not acceptable to them so they have intentionally killed the API for it. According to a reddit post here a user received a reply from Eufy flat out stating they no longer support that feature. And from the verbiage of the response he received, they have no intent on restoring that functionality.
I used to HIGHLY recommend Eufy to all friends and family and have single-handedly converted 3 families to the platform (multiple cameras, homebase’s, entry sensors etc) but will not recommend them anymore. Their claims of compatibility with Google are incredibly misleading when all of the other major security platforms that are compatible with Google allow mode switching.
For the case @jus2067 mentioned, was to set Security Mode via Google Assistant, we have the commands like ‘OK Google, arm front door’, ‘OK Google, disarm front door’. After testing command like ‘OK Google, set front door to Away mode’ these days, Google Assistant returned failure via its API. We’ll keep communication with Google to investigate more commands to bring better experience to our users.
But it has taken too long to get this confirmation.
It should be easier to raise defects and have them verified. It’s been months and I am guessing that it is only now that investigation / resolution will begin.
This was working. It needs to be fixed.
It’s likely that many people use Home and Away and not Arm and Disarm.
I leave external cameras on permanently and switch internal cameras on when we are Away.
Disarm is useless to me as it will turn off all cameras.
We need Home and Away modes fixed.
As I recall your documentation provides the correct wording for changing modes for Home and Away. You should have regression test cases for this wording. Your Dev team should be running regression and finding these defects before your customers.
