Homebase 3 has lost all my recordings after a power outage

I have a Homebase S380 with 2 S330 Eufy cams. There is a 2TB SSD (Crucial) inside, which is detected and formatted.

Recently, there was a brief power failure and the system went down. Once it came back up, we had to resync the cameras (using the sync button and the walking in front of the cameras to wake them back up). They are recording again now and seem to be functional.

However, the previous recordings (all of them) have disappeared. Face training data and previous events like changing the mode of HomeBase are still stored.

Where did all my recordings go? Can I get them back? Or what can be done to stop this happening again?

I don’t have that setup but, I can ponder / guess what may have happened??

The HB3 did a format to your hard drive when the power came back.
Face training & events are stored on the internal memory.

When you synced the cameras back to the HB3 previous recordings are not accessible now.

Just my thoughts…

Plug the HB3 into an UPS _ universal power supply_ would keep it running for a few hours this could help from it happening again.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.

Why would a power outage format the harddrive? Isn’t that a huge flaw?

It would be a huge flaw. I don’t know if the HB3 would actually format the drive in that event.

Just reading, tells you to shut down the home base before inserting the hard drive, so I’m just assuming (you know what that means ), when you power it back up it auto detects the hard drive and formats it. Unless it asks you do you wish to format it yes or no.

Could be the act of of re-syncing the cameras caused their keys to be wiped. The data would still be there, but without the storage key, you couldn’t see it or retrieve it.

I just had a similar experience. E340 floodlight connected to HB3. I unplugged the power brick of the HB3 to move it to another wall outlet. After booting back up, all recorded events are missing but the 24/7 recorded footage still exists on the HB3, rebooting does nothing.

This is totally messed up.

Same thing happened to me on Dec 20, 2023 - Power outage wiped out all SSD history and events and is only recording and displaying events that occurred after the power was restored.

Same thing just happened to me - power went down, Homebase 3 wouldn’t even power back on after a restart. No LED light whatsoever - not red, not blue, nothing. Eufy is sending me a new one - I did install an additional 2TB harddrive inside as well.
Yesterday, I got the new replacement Homebase and was about to install it when, today, the old one came back online. It is now recording new events and has facial recognition still stored (even though it’s HORRIBLE - I’m a petite blonde woman and it thinks that every male contractor, painter, Amazon delivery person, etc. is me, regardless of their race, height or the amount of facial hair they have!!).
However, it appears all my events before the HB3 decided to wake back up are now GONE. This is ridiculous.

You might purchase the Eufy backup device for Homebase 2. Its a battery that fits underneath the HB and provides continuous power for short outages. It won’t fit underneath HB3, but it will power it just fine, albeit for a shorter time than HB2. They are around $30 on Amazon.

It protects your HB from dips and surges and short outages. Have had one on my HB and its come through any power fluctuations we have had.
