I purchased my first Eufy Device and was excited to have an all in one device that is both a smart lock and video doorbell. The first night my device was not detecting any motion at all. I had signed up for cloud storage but that wasn’t helping. I figured motion detection and recording doesn’t work at all without a micro SD card so I got one today. still nothing.

eventually I just reset everything (doorbell and the chime) and it seems to have partially resolved the issue? it’s hard to say because during set-up the camera wasn’t even reading the QR code the app generated. Then it detected me but still only sporadically. but as I keep testing it the doorbell seems to detect me more often now. I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt and wondering if, since AI is advertised as a feature for this lock/doorbell, maybe that’s just the AI algorithm learning when/how to detect motion? does anyone with this device have similar issues or a similar experience?

Detection is independent of AI. AI is just used to recognise what has been detected, human, pet etc and then for humans their face and body shape to assign a name.
Tips for detection:
Check sensitivity, set it to max
Check camera position, does the person break the beem? It works best if the person walks across the camera’s view not just directly towards the camera.
If you can upload a photo of the camera’s location and what it can see, we will be able to offer more advice
