Motion detection stopped working after latest firmware update

Just tested the newly purchased eufy Cam 2 pro on 4.6.6 in the driveway overlooking the street at night time set to human only motion. I changed the sensitivity to the max 7 yet it won’t pickup any cars. I shall be reporting this further to Eufy as they asked.
I understand for some people this might not be a big deal but for others it can be critical. A car pulling up on your driveway in the middle of the night needs to be recorded.

4.6.6 on cam 2 Pro still not detect in night any car in all motions. Even when there is just enough light, it not switch tonight mode, no detection.
Then finally at day it detect something.
Full sensitivity (7)

The other cheaper eufyCam 2.7.4 and doorbell T8210 sw 2.2.3.3 work just fine since day one.

Hi all … my cameras auto updated to 5.4.5 yesterday and guess what … they are working again with “human motion only” detection enabled !!!

I haven’t done anything other than change back to this setting in the motion detection section … I don’t know if Eufy have finally listened and sorted it out but it could be worth doing firmware updates on your cameras and seeing if you have the same result (really hope you all do) !!!

Bye for now :smiley::+1:t2:

How are people forcing the update? I checked on each camera with in the app but it says firmware is up to date yet it’s not the 5.4.5 that works.

Yes, I have the exact same problems. Motion detection seems very poor and almost non existent. I know the camera is detecting movement as it turns on the security light BUT no recording is made, and no alert is sent to my phone to notify me of intruder. This is very concerning and my wife has lost faith in the security the system used to offer and will not stay in the house overnight on her own anymore.

Please Eufy, sort this issue out for us or else the cameras are just a security light

If you email eufy support with the cameras serial numbers they will push the beta firmware to you.

I requested eufy to push the 4.6.6 and this is what they said

Be kindly informed, that the global impact from the COVID-19 virus, unfortunately, affects some of the global semiconductor supply chains, we have backed up some of eufyCam’s devices, resulting in two-branched software versions, but please rest assured that the product’s functions, performance, and experience are the same. Meanwhile, we found that the system version of the two software branches is quite different, which may cause much confusion for our valued customers. It’s challenging to make the software version the same one in a short time, but our engineer team is working day and night to optimize the software version and resolve your concern with our best efficiency. And in this case, the version that the firmware targets is one of these 2 so that’s why we said this is not applicable to the issue you have.

I realy do not understand what are they on about

Duh. Now when i tested again the 2C cameras, which I got working some time ago: the older ones worked, but not the 5.4.3. I thought I had got them working, but it was short-lived. Have to get the firmware update then!

You seem to run 3.8.4 which someone had reported working fine. The 4.6.6 is probably to cameras with version 4.6.4, which is why they responded like that.

You could try troubleshooting steps in post #86 if those help with your cameras after homebase2 update. Also someone had success with resetting the HB2 with a pin.

I have had my 3x 2C camera’a which updated to firmware version 5.4.5 running on human motion derect for past few day and the human motion detect is recording but the function is still no where near as good it was before the faulty firmware was updated 28/09/2021. At night it picks up the dog as human as well the cars going past the house but during the day light hour it seems to be detecting human motion but like i have said it is not 100% so will not trust it to make my house secure

@tre348 human detection only works at day per design. This is also described in the settings

I’m having the same issue, cameras have stopped motion detection.

I got the new firmware and finally appear to be getting back to normal, my only gripe is that it seems a little trigger happy at night but I think I just need to tinker with it a bit.

I have motion detection zones and it appears to be picking things up outside of the zones, whilst it’s not world ending it’s a bit irritating to have loads of notifications.

People are right though, Eufy need to be more transparent on the software status especially considering the device was as good as useless for a couple of months.

I’m glad to have the functionality back and I do understand the troubles of managing software across multiple chipsets for the same devices. However if a company changes the chipsets they should only do so if they can match the suitable software to it otherwise you end up exactly where many users have been for the past few months… A device that is useless.

Eufy, just be more transparent, don’t have a community offering through your app if you can’t be open with the community.

@Fair_Admin I know human motion detect only works during day light hours but even cars being picked up at night after 5.4.5 update showing the cars as human detect where previuosly it showed up as motion which mean camera’s are still not functioning 100%

Locking firmware in that works would be a neat function.

I just bought Outdoor cam pro C24
Original FW 1 0.2.4 had perfect human detection at long distance.
After forced FW update to 1.0.3.7 human detection range has been significantly reduced and not as quite good as original FW 1 0 2.4

If asking for a firmware push, in addition of providing SN of cameras, also provide SN of Homebase2.

Same here. After the update to 4.6.6 (from 4.6.4) on my 2x eufy 2 cams, human motion detection works again.

Can you please check if left on all motion do they pick up cars or non human objects?

So SN Sequence - T8140P6 is the one which will go to 4.6.6 But SN Sequence T8140P0, V3.8.4.

However i am starting to think, the issue may not be the firmware of the 2 Pro as i have the 3.8.4 and that is the latest based on the FW Sequence , once my HB2 firmware was updated to 2.1.8.5h , only then i started to have issues.
