Hi,
Does anyone know if you can use the motion sensor behind a window so it looks outside?
I want to use it as an extension for my doorbell but I’ve read about it that it’s not a sensor for outdoors.
Kind regards,
Dries

Sorry, but no. Motion sensors do not work through glass reliably. Most motion sensors use passive infrared (PIR) technology to detect motion. Changes in IR energy are not easily detected through glass. This is why motion sensors will generally not work through windows, which are usually insulated.
Can you mount it on outside of the window where it will be protected from rain with with two sided tape?
Hi,
Thanks for your reply, I have to check if i can put it somewhere outside the rain.
So you can put it outside as long as it’s not in the rain?
Well… The description says indoor use, and its not waterproof.
The Operating Temperature: -10ºC – 40ºC /14°F – 104°F which may be an issue at times. I would give it a shot.
You could be creative and try to rig something up to protect it from the elements. Like this sun/rain cover or something similar. Good luck.
We’ve been using indoor cam thru a window that doesnt have a screen and although not perfect, it does detect much of the motion.
Hi, thanks for your replies. I’ll try it out!
