Solo Cam 340 – Recording and Data Transfer During Power Outage with Home Base

When there is a power outage at home, does the Solo Cam 340 store the captured data in its internal memory and automatically transfer the recordings to the Home Base once communication is restored? I ask because when I didn’t have the Home Base, everything was still recorded, since the camera didn’t require external power. That was a huge benefit, as it allowed monitoring even without electricity.

Yes it has some internal memory. But it depends how long the power is off to the homebase vs number of motion captures

It’s strange… Yesterday my house was without power all day, so there was no connection with the HomeBase. When the power and connection came back at night, there were no videos recorded during the offline period.

This really worried me, because one of the main reasons I chose the Solo Cam 340 was to install it in a rural area where power outages are very common. Since the camera has a solar panel and internal battery, I expected it to continue monitoring and recording locally even without electricity, and then automatically transfer the captured footage to the HomeBase once the connection was restored.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation or knows if there is any specific setting to ensure this function?

No, I don’t believe it will use internal storage if you pair it to homebase. Everything goes to the homebase so toy would not have recordings when a power outage occurs.

I understand your point, but that’s exactly what worries me.

If pairing the Solo Cam 340 to the HomeBase disables its ability to store footage locally during power outages, it basically removes one of the key benefits of owning a battery-powered, solar-supported camera — which is to keep monitoring even without electricity or internet.

Wouldn’t it make more sense for the camera to continue storing data locally and then sync with the HomeBase once the connection is restored? Losing that functionality feels like a major drawback, especially for those of us installing it in rural areas with frequent power outages.

Yeah, I agree with you `100% but I am not that’s the case currently.

Hey Pedro_Eduardo,

Great question—and you’re absolutely right to highlight the benefit of uninterrupted monitoring during a power outage! The SoloCam 340 does indeed have internal storage, which allows it to keep recording even when the HomeBase or internet connection is temporarily down. Once the HomeBase is back online, the camera typically syncs and transfers the stored footage—although, as ogr10 mentioned, the amount it can retain depends on the duration of the outage and how much motion activity is captured during that time.

It’s definitely a standout feature for backup monitoring, especially in areas prone to outages. Just be mindful that if there’s a long delay or high motion volume, the internal memory might fill up before it can sync.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you’ve tested out the recovery process after an outage—I’d be curious to hear how seamless it was for you.

@Eri9385 but it doesn’t do that in practice. Not sure where you got your info from…your whole reply sounds AI generated.

I like what you’re saying @Pedro_Eduardo yes it would be great if it worked like that.
Unfortunately I don’t think it would be possible to do so, maybe half of it could be done..
Like the recording to the internal storage of the camera when HomeBase link is down.

There may be footage on the internal storage of the camera??
Tried disabling temporarily the record onto HomeBase for that camera then see if you are able to access the cameras memory..
