Temporary Local Recording When Homebase Unavailable?

Hello,

Does anyone know if the EufyCam S4 and/or SoloCam S340 are still able to record video if the Homebase 3 is temporarily offline? For example, if the power goes out, can they still record based on motion to local storage and then immediately send that footage to the Homebase when it comes back online?

thats a good question. I’m curious to. I think once the camera is bound to a home base it will only record to it but that would be a great option for it to switch to built in storage if the home base is offline. Not all of the cameras have built in storage though

I am tempted to get S4, does it not have a local SSD so if the homebase goes offline, will it not by default record on the SSD? I am still investigating which CCTV to buy, so will be good to know on this topic as well.

Best to just try it/tested out yourself…
SoloCam’s & cameras with built-in storage or uses SD cards, wired (w/backup power) and battery powered would be the only ones capable to see if it works.

I just tested it. Neither the S4 nor the S340 recorded after the Homebase was unplugged. Tracking didn’t work either. They’re basically decorations if the Homebase loses power.

The Doorbell E340 also did not record either.

Eufy needs to brainstorm on that.. so that when the camera detects lost connectivity to the HB3 it will utilize its local onboard storage to record on to.
If you weren’t using an HB3 this wouldn’t be the case, as long as you’re cameras are still being powered, you would lose the ability of cross camera tracking, AI face recognition and it’s larger recording media.
