Solo Cam S340 Setup

I am using the S340 to monitor my backyard. While it does work I believe I can improve on things. First, night is when I have the most activity. The camera is detecting moths and other fly bugs. Is there anyway to stop this detection? I have selected Human Recognition and Detection, Vehicle Detection and Pet Detection. The sensitivity is set at 5. I imagine the spot light attracts the bugs which compounds the situation.

There is a street beyond my rear lot line. This lot line is 57 feet from the camera. I detect vehicles going up and down this street but not detect people or bicycles. Can this be fixed?

A few nights ago I detected deer in my backyard. The video quality was much worse than I expected it would be. The deer appeared ghost-like when they were moving. I am thinking I may have something setup incorrectly. I saved the deer videos if that would help. I’ve seen similar video of deer at night from a friends security camera and his video was much better. I believe his camera was infrared.

The camera is mounted on the fascia on backside of the house and is about 20 feet off the ground.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I always get bug activity to but I don’t get notifications about them I only see them when viewing saved events so maybe check your notifications settings. As for the ghostly images we all seem to get these when things are at a distance and on IR night vision only thing to do is turn on color night vision and the light will turn on when it detects something.

After reviewing several other sources, I moved my camera to be about 9 feet off the ground. I also made some other set-up changes such as using both cameras. ele1980 you suggested checking my notification settings. Can you be more specific as I’m just trying to better understand how all this works. I have motion detection turned on. I’ve set an activity zone and have selected human and vehicle for detection types. I thought I had a ā€˜Pet’ option for detection type at one point but that is not available now.
Thanks.

Under the device settings > notification settings you can pick what you want to get for notifications weather for detection of only human ,pets, vehicles or all motion and interval between notifications. I don’t have all motions checked off so I don’t get small bug notifications but I do have all motion checked off under the motion settings so it will be saved as a event. Now if a spider :spider: crawls across the camera up close or real heavy rain i sometimes still get those notifications. Hope this makes sense

Thanks! But I’m still not in the right place. If I open settings I can select ā€œMotion Detectionā€ and ā€œNotificationā€. (There are several others as well.)

If I open Motion Detection I can select which ā€œDetection Typeā€ including Human, Vehicle or All Other Motions.

If I open Notification I can select Most Efficient, Full Effect or Include Thumbnail.

I wonder if your software is different than mine. Hmmm?

Strange. I don’t. Have that camera model so maybe different options but I do have multiple different model and most do on iPhone I just figured that camera would to it’s a nice camera

This is strange. A day or so ago I had the option to select ā€˜Pets’ as a detection type but today I do not have that option. Does anyone have any idea what I could have done to mess this up?

Thanks.

I think I’ll try un-installing the camera and re-installing it and see if I get the ā€œPetsā€ option back.

Re installing my work

This fixed the issue and was simple to do other than climbing on a ladder to scan the bar code.
I now have Human Recognition, Human Detection, Vehicle Detection, Pet Detection and All Other motions. I am hoping I can minimize detecting moths and other flying bugs at night.

The changes I made included mounting the camera at 9 feet down from over 20 feet. I am also using both cameras and I am using infrared for night vision. I need to get another camera to monitor the very back of my back yard. I think I may be asking too much of this camera to reach out to the 60+ feet range.

Thanks for your help.
