Solocam S340 suffering from weak network

Hey everybody, I have installed my Solocam S340 on the front wall, as you can see in the picture. My Wi-fi router is placed at the “Router location” marked on the inside of the house, right next to the door. The approximate distance between the camera and router would be around 5 meters, as reported by Apple’s Measure app.

With this setup, my camera has been going offline quite often. It wasn’t the case for the first 30 to 35 days. The Wi-fi reception on the camera used to be weak, but it didn’t go offline until recently.

First of all, I am quite surprised that the wi-fi router given to me by the ISP provider is so weak. I suffer from weak reception in some corners of the house, and my house isn’t very big.

What can I do to fix this problem? I don’t want to use another wi-fi repeater, as I am already using one on the other side of the house.

Hmmm.. how close is your router to the wall? If it’s too close then the Wi-Fi signal is traveling through the front fascia of your wall sideways (there’s a lot it needs to penetrate through) trying to connect to the camera.
Try moving your router back some and if you can raise it higher too.

Looks too high to me

:grinning:

My S340 used to have great WiFi recepton, but after firmware update it’s now 5-10 feet (max) in an open room. I have identical issue with 2 cameras, both died after Firmware update. Anker killed your hardware & won’t own up to it. I have same issue & now S340 must be no further than 10 feet from Router or Homebase to get a signal. Anker replaced my original Camera after numerous emails w/Support. The new S340 received worked as-expected for not even 48 hours…BUT after they pushed same firmware update as my old one it now suffers from the same/identical issue.
Now after 2 months of ridiculous back & forth emails with their (alleged) Tech Support (who only asked me to check/recheck same settings), they have now walked away & refuse to do anything except offer me 10% discount to buy yet another Camera. My belief is firmware damaged the WiFi hardware & they refuse to own-up to their mistakes. What a sad Company. Do not buy anything from Anker.
