This is my driveway. My S340 does a good job of capturing vehicles when they leave, traveling away from the camera. But it’s not great at recording action coming towards it when someone is driving up the driveway, like less than 10%. I’ve adjusted the zones and optimized sensitivity as much as I can. Looking for any advice from you all to help it pick up oncoming cars.
Thanks!!
I have the same issue. The motion detection needs improvement, the range is pretty small and speed seems to matter. tracking all motion improves some but I’m considering using motion detectors to trigger the camera to record.
I have the S340 as well. My backyard is sloping down, it does fine when people are on the front yard, which is level, going down to the back, but will not capture people coming from the lower-level backyard up to the front. Yours looks fairly even so I don’t know why you would have an issue. Sometimes the height of the camera could make a difference. They suggest it be off center and yours looks like it is. Could be a distance issue depending how far your entrance is from the camera, however it should pick up someone or thing at a certain point coming toward it. Nighttime is another issue. I wonder what it would do on the other side of the driveway.
I would suggest also going into the App to the camera settings (Motion Detection) and set a higher Motion Detection Range or Go into (Motion Test Mode) In the same setting and walk down the driveway to see how far it detects you, it will beep every time it senses your motion.
Well, it’s actually a fairly steep downhill going away from the camera. So the situations have that in common. And I’m stuck for options on locations. I did have a camera on the opposite side but an Amazon driver clobbered it. This spot is a bit more protected.
See if setting the cameras default position over a little improves detection coming up the driveway, if it doesn’t improve you may want to raise the camera 6 in higher.

Mine (S340) can track or detect outside the driveway. But a large van could pull up the driveway 2 meters away from it. And it won’t be detected.
I don’t have the option to raise the camera any higher. But I may try your other idea. I’m just concerned that it will start recording when the vehicle is quickly exiting the frame. But better to have that than no recording at all, which is pretty much what I’m getting now. Thanks!
Well, jd164- I’ve implemented your idea and I was feeling good about this. But after a few days I have to say it didn’t improve anything. I’ll keep tweaking…
Dang it, I’m a bit baffled that it doesn’t pick up vehicles well coming up the driveway towards the camera.
Both screenshot photos you provided appear to be at an optimal position.
The camera has a 25 - 30 ft detection range, I’m beginning to think possibly the camera itself has an issue with detecting motion from the left.
I noticed you have an Activity Zone, delete that to just see if any improvement occurs.
