Video DoorBell 2k electric current consumption

I have the doorbell powered from 24V transformer (30VA).
I noticed it gets noticeably warm after short time, so I measured what’s the power consumption.
DoorBell is pulling around 0.7-0.8 Amp (in AC mode) when doing nothing. I measured it using good quality clamp meter.

Config is optimal battery power, no movement detection.
Is this power consumption normal?

That does sound a bit high, especially if it’s just sitting idle with no motion detection and set to battery optimization mode. That’s around 17–19 watts and feels more than most doorbells usually pull. That said, without knowing which Eufy model you’ve got, it’s hard to say for sure. Some models like the dual cam or 2K wired versions naturally draw more power, even when nothing’s going on.

Also, if you’ve got a wired chime in the mix, that could definitely be adding to the power draw. Mechanical chimes in particular can create extra load or keep pulling small amounts of power depending on how they’re wired. Some setups need a chime adapter or bypass to handle that properly.

A 24V/30VA transformer will get warm in AC mode since it’s actively powering the doorbell and keeping the battery topped up. As long as it’s not scorching hot and everything’s working fine, it’s probably within spec.
