Well, got my new Homebase3 and set it up yesterday. Added the c220 that sits inside my porch and a terabyte HDD I had left from my laptop upgrade. Now I’m good to do continuous recording.
Unfortunately, not possible when homebase3 is on wifi. The continuous recording option on the c220 gets greyed out with a red warning. Guess the only thing I can do is spring for a mesh pod and plug the homebase3 into the pod via ethernet.
I wonder if homebase3 will know it is attached to a wifi device?
Worth a try. I’ll post back when I know. By the next day, homebase3 had actually removed the continuous record option from all 3 cameras connected to it. Hoping it comes back once I get the mesh pod from phone company.
I would also check to see if the cameras you have are compatible to do continuous recording 24/7 on to the HB3.
Maybe only certain wired cameras can?
That’s one thought that came to mind.
Ok, got the pod today. Plugged in the Homebase3. It thinks it’s on ethernet. To get the continuous recording I went into edge connection for the camera and picked “continuous and events” instead of the default events only. Camera that is capable begins continuous 24/7. You access recording stream same way, pick live, pick playback, slide to time you want and then pick playback speed.
Yes, ethernet connection required. Tested at the gigahub (in basement) and at a pod with ethernet connection socket. Both ways the Homebase3 allows continuous recording. Continuous recording will not work with homebase3 on wifi. Needed the pod so the Homebase3 would be near front door as my old doorbell died. Have to use Homebase3 as my doorbell.
Pod to gigahub would be wifi6E. I guess it’s fast enough to simulate ethernet speeds. So, to the Homebase3 it feels like ethernet speeds. I guess normal homebase3 wifi is only wifi4 (2.4). 2.4 is not fast enough to support continuous recording. So ethernet from homebase3 to pod and wifi6E from pod to gigahub is the special sauce to get continuous recording.
i have hb on a switch connected to a eero pro 6e several on continuous but I took a few out of Edge because I wanted to have them in Apple HomeKit I like the diversity
