Step 1: Managing and Using Your Lock
FamiLock‑E40 offers five unlocking methods in total.
Among them, App Unlocking is exclusive to you, while the other four methods can be shared with your spouse, children, or temporary visitors, depending on their needs.
The most convenient way to unlock FamiLock‑E40 is through Facial Recognition.
To improve accuracy and security, you can register multiple facial profiles for yourself and your family, so the system can “get to know you better.”
It’s also a good idea to register multiple fingerprints on different fingers—so when one isn’t convenient or gets a minor cut, you can still unlock effortlessly.
Want to share access with family or friends? Simply go to the Manage Access page and follow the on‑screen instructions.
For users who may not visit frequently, you can set access schedules or remove their access anytime.
Step 2: Battery Charging and Management
FamiLock‑E40 uses a 15,000 mAh main battery plus an 800 mAh backup battery for extended performance.
The main battery lasts up to 6 months, while the backup battery keeps your lock running for another 2 weeks when charging is needed.
At the top of Settings page, you can clearly see the statuses of the main (left) and backup (right) batteries.
When the battery runs low, simply follow the guided steps to recharge.
Please note: When operating solely on the 800 mAh backup battery, FamiLock‑E40 cannot stream live video or perform motion detection. However, facical recognition, fingerprint, passcode, and key unlocking will continue to function normally.
If you return from a long trip and find the lock completely out of power, you can unlock it with the physical key or charge it externally through the port provided.
You can also manage your battery life smartly within the eufy App — for example:
1.Adjust the Activity Zone and sensing distance to avoid events triggered by crowded streets, passing cars, or moving flags and trees.
2.Fine‑tune event recording strategy, duration, and time periods to reduce unnecessary power use.
Step 3: More Tips for Convenience and Safety
To enhance security, FamiLock‑E40 can enable Auto‑Lock Mode, automatically locking the door after a set time interval within specific hours.
Please note that even if the door is not fully closed, the bolt will still extend automatically.
When your hands are full, you can easily lock or unlock from inside with the locking button, or touch the one-touch locking on the outside panel for a swift exit.
If you use Passcode Unlocking, there might be a risk of someone nearby seeing your code. That’s why the Scramble Passcode feature adds an extra layer of security by letting you enter random digits before or after your actual code.
