Okay, I guess thatās set up works fine for you. I noticed youāre not using the rear doorbell chime terminal for the doorbell.
So when either doorbell button gets pressed you hear the same doorbell chime for both doorbells, or does it sound differently to let you know which doorbell has been pressed?
It did at first but does not anymore.
@Ryan780 so are you saying I need to re-wire my chime box? If I take the video doorbell away the door bell works just fine, but when video doorbell is reinstalled no ding dong is heard inside the house. Initially after installing everything was working fine then when pressing the doorbell button on doorbell cam chimes stopped working. Looking at the photos others have posted I donāt think I have a wiring issue. I only have 1 door bell button so are you saying I need to add a jumper on the unused terminal in my chime box?
Its a mechanical chime, not a digital chime, so it makes the same noise when either doorbell is pressed
Since every chime box is different I wouldnt be able to give you exact instructions, the last thing i want to do is cause a wiring hazard. Im using a Braun chime. Keep in mind that even after your wiring is set up you will still need to go into the app and set it up for use with a mechanical doorbell chime, or pressing the button still wont work. Once you go to your settings and change the chime for your doorbell, it will run a voltage test on your doorbell to ensure it is receiving enough power to function properly, eventually succeeding or failing the test. If anything still isnt working with what is explained above, wouldnt hurt to pay an electrician the 50 dollars to check your wiring and ensure its all connected properly. I started with one doorbell, upgraded to a 40w transformer and ran new wire to new doorbell, sometimes old wiring corrodes over time in old setups and cant provide the same capacity as before. Check all these things and best luck
In short: you shouldnt need to change any wiring. If doorbell doesnt work after wiring and setup, youre likely just one jumper away from success. Just be careful not to fry your circuit. These newer doorbells normally have surge preventive tech built in so if wiring is wrong it doesnt keep frying the circuit
Iām aware that you have a mechanical chime, I can see the two plungers on yours.
I asked because of the way you have it wired in the chime box.
My mechanical chime lets me know if the front door or rear doorbell is pressed by a two-note sound for the front door and a single-note for the rear door.
@camu11 have you gotten the chime to work?
You did mention when you first installed the video doorbell that the chime was working properly with it, and then a few hours later the chime wasnāt working any longer..
You did some troubleshooting and all seems correct.
My next move would be is to return the video doorbell and get an exact replacement, and see how it goes from there.
I believe you have a more modern chime box than mine. As a matter of fact my chime box is pretty analog, it doesnt make any sound except for when the switch engages the chime. So, technically, yours should be even easier to set up with audio feedback
I finally fixed it after getting a replacement doorbell under warranty. All is well now. It was a faulty doorbell camera. Fun fact, in order to add a new door bell I actually had to log into my router and remove the old device, the new doorbell would not join my Wi-Fi till I did this.
