New owner - E340 doorbell - wiring/chime question

Hi all,

I have just purchased an E340 wireless doorbell (wired or battery).
I am planning on using the existing wiring to power my E340, and keeping my old doorbell where it is.
My current doorbell is connected to a mechanical chime and transformer, which supplies the correct power.
So I’ll be spurring off the current wiring of my doorbel to the E340. This means both the E340 and my push button doorbell will be cnnected at the same time.

Does the Eufy App allow me to deactivate the activation of the mechanical chime when the E340 button is pressed?

Hi

No — the Eufy app does not let you disable the mechanical chime through software when the E340 button is pressed.

If you’re wiring the E340 to the same circuit as your existing mechanical chime and doorbell button, pressing the E340 will still complete the circuit and activate the chime. The app has no control over the physical wiring or the chime’s function in this kind of setup.

If you want the chime not to sound when the E340 is pressed, you’d need to physically interrupt or isolate the chime circuit — either by disconnecting it or using a bypass module if compatible. But again, this isn’t something that can be toggled from the app.

I don’t think the doorbell is designed to operate/work with your existing push button doorbell connected to it?

Figure one would supply the needed power for the eufy doorbell, but pressing the old doorbell button would cause a circuit ground.

Figure 2 maybe the way to go, though it might not supply enough power or none for the eufy doorbell.

Figure 1 is what I’ll be going with.

Let us know how it works out…
