Anyone else hav

Anyone else have their mechanical doorbell chimes stopped working hours after installing the e340 doorbell? Just installed mine everything was working great but now the chimes no longer work and have verified the setting to use indoor chimes is enabled in the app. If I jumper the doorbell wires together the chime sounds but when the button is pressed only the camera makes noise and nothing is heard inside.

In the doorbell settings if there’s an option to Restart Device try that.
Does the mechanical chime make any kind of noise like buzzing for attempting to try to ring when pushing the doorbell button?
What’s the specs on your doorbells transformer?

No buzzing noises when trying to push the doorbell button with the camera. I am using a 16 va 30 vac transformer. If I remove the video doorbell and put the original doorbell back everything works. Unfortunately with my model there is no restart option.

The transformer is within specs…
16vac 30va it could just be that the transformer is under strain and isn’t outputting enough current any longer due to its age??
It was fine with the original doorbell but now the doorbell camera is requiring more power and doesn’t have enough to activate the doorbell chime.
In the camera settings, Power Manager, Power Source, switch it to battery for an hour and then toggle it back to wired.
You may need to adjust settings back to what you had it to before. Then try and see if the chime will ring after you switch it back to wired.

I do not think the transformer is an issue. As I had to upgrade this transformer before installing as the old one was a 16 V 10 VAC transformer. Good tip though on switching camera to battery only to see if chimes work as designed.

I have another brand of video doorbell that I’m testing for a different company and its had the same problem, the transformer is aged and at the lowest working voltage so you will need a new transformer soon if not now. Jeep trying and it will connect just takes a few tries

I measured the voltage at the doorbell and get 19 some volts from the house wiring. But when the button is pressed I get 0 volts from the mechanical chime box inside the house. I put the original doorbell button back and when button is pressed voltage registers across the trans and front terminals of chime box. In my case I don’t think it’s a transformer issue as everything previously worked with out an issue and the new transformer then just stopped working. I know it not a wiring issue either. And all the test I have done to the transformer I have run indicates a very strong transformer.

Finally figured out why so many people put in emoticons…it’s to follow a thread using the message option on the home page. This one is interesting as I had similar problem. First mechanical doorbell started buzzing. So I bypassed the doorbell using Homebase2 for a chime. Worked for a while then stopped. Could not find the old transformer (I think it’s inside the wall somewhere) so I tapped into the wires at the doorbell and used a transformer plugged into porch outlet. Worked for a while but eventually failed ( I think the transformer I used was not big enough). I got a bigger transformer, but now the battery is dead in the doorbell and it’s too cold out to charge. Put a c220 into the porch to compensate till weather got warmer as I don’t want to be working outside. Hope everything starts working again in spring. Did notice that c220 can detect motion thru the window glass, quite a surprise.

Try moving the new doorbell next to the chime box temporarily using jumpers and connect to the back door side of the chimebox and see if that works. Is the little chime box device connected to both front and rear door connections?

I only have the single doorbell. So the terminal in the chime box labeled “rear” is not utilized.

Perhaps something in the doorbell is defective, pushing the doorbell button completes the circuit, in turn it will ring your mechanical chime.
So you’re not getting any voltage readings at the mechanical chime terminals.

Does the app show that the doorbell is charging?
Only other thing I can think of trying is to delete the device doorbell from the app and then add it back and complete the setup.

Ok temporarily wire the new doorbell to the rear connections(back door) as if it will be used for the back door and try that with the old switch still attached to the front door wiring. You’ll know if it’s the doorbell itself or a break in the wiring. Is your chime connector 2 wire or 3?

Tried that, removing and re-adding the doorbell in the app unfortunately no luck. Yes the app does show the camera as being plugged in. But yes it would appear possibly something internal is not making the connection for mechanical chime.

All wiring checks out. As if I remove the video doorbell and put a standard push button in its place the chimes with sound all day long. So I know the wiring is good. We even had an electrician check the wiring and all is good there. But I will try your suggestion.

@camu11 You will likely need to go to your mechanical chime box, remove cover, and make sure your diagram is linked properly. Once adding a higher power doorbell the power needs an off ramp in a sense. Your camera is running off the current and the previous doorbells is just a switch. I have two camera doorbells connected to the same chime and had to pigtail/jump the with the connector jumpers included with your camera. You can also buy double ended pigtails in store If the transformer works, and old doorbell works, this is likely the problem. Also, be patient with the app, too many changes in settings at once can sometimes confuse the software. Included is a picture of the jumpers i had to add for mine to work properly. Each diagram is unique so just make sure the chime being connected to the transformer ultimately.

But doing this disables the mechanical chimes if I remember correctly? Which I don’t want.

@Ryan780 so your mechanical chime ding dongs when the doorbell button is pressed??

Yes, my mechanical chime dings whenever either of my doorbells are pressed and runs common wire current for 24/7 continuous recording. @camu11 if you have you doorbell wires jumped together its not going to ding when you press the button because you are essentially returning the current to your doorbell. It needs to be jumped from the doorbell to the chime and from chime to transformer. In your case i would remove either the left or right pigtail on my setup, depending on which doorbell im removing, and that would leave me with one pigtail instead of two. That would allow for 1 doorbell to function properly. Note that before smart doorbells were installed i had no pigtails and doorbell worked fine with standard doorbell but these new video doorbells just need an extra jumper. Hope this helps
