Blowing snow creates alerts

Blowing snow is causing my My Eufy wired Outdoor Cam Pro to alert that a human has been spotted. So for this has only occurred at night. I have the sensitivity on the lowest setting and detection set for human only. The AI is not very good if it doesn’t distinguish blowing snow from a walking human. ANY SUGGESTIONS???

Unfortunately, most IR motion detection is notoriously bad at dealing with snow. The sensor is much more sensitive in cold weather and the IR light is bouncing back directly from the snow particles creating the detection.

But it is something the AI should distinguish.

Question: Does this mainly happen at night? or day? or both?

Apologies. you already answered my question, that being ‘at night’ and that is what I was expecting to hear.

so the Ai is actually working fine. The problem is this…

Human Only - when you select this setting the system’s AI will filter out non-human motion events. This is done to save the camera’s battery and to reduce the number of false alert notifications you receive. For safety purposes, Motion Detection will be switched to “All Motion” at night.

So this could be fixed with a very simple software tweak from EUFY’s end.
I’ll pop it on the wish list forum for you.

Thanks for your reply. I just edited my post. I don’t have the 2C. I have the Outdoor Cam Pro which is wired for power. I just installed it two days ago but we have had a small amount of snow both nights. The alerts make it hard to sleep, so I had to disarm them at night. The problem is I want alerts if a thief is in the area.

Hi, No worries. As far as I am aware the automatic disabling of human only mode during the night is consistent accross all Eufy camera models, not just specific to the 2C.

Thanks for the link and response. This is not a good feature to have have in the software.

No worries. Yeah I think they should allow the user to decide that choice, as appose to being a forced feature.

Like I say, it’s a very easy software tweak from their side. Whether they actually will or not… Your guess is as good as mine.
