Crappy WiFi- how many 2C cameras could I have?

I live rurally and I have REALLY BAD internet- like 200kb/s at the best to stream these cameras. I put off getting security cameras just for this reason. We only have one option for internet service out here right now although it should be improving within the next couple years.

I just installed two Eufy 2C cameras and so far I really love them! I still don’t quite understand when the Wi-Fi is necessary because I seem to be getting all the alerts and the streaming is good when I view it for short periods. My internet seems dependable; if very
slow.

My question is this - I would like to get two more cameras, but at what point does your Wi-Fi start getting bogged down even more?

Thank you!!

When the cameras are just sitting there and not recording they don’t impose any load on your Wifi. When they wake up and detect motion, the cameras are talking to the Homebase over their own protocol, so you are not loading the Wifi that much. When Live Viewing or recording an event, especially when you are viewing them on your local network it is still a minimal load. Eufy compresses the stream quite a bit and as long as you are not trying to use all cameras at the same time, you should be OK to add a couple more cameras.

The one place you will see issues is if you try to view your cams from a phone or device and you are using a cell connection. Then, the stream has to go from your local Homebase through your router and up to the cell provider. That’s when a low bandwidth connection will slow everything down the most. Eufy recommends a 2Mb/sec upstream connection speed. Their hardware will work on less, but its really slow. But, as long as you are OK with the current speed, adding a couple more cams, especially the 2C varied that are only 1080p, shouldn’t be a problem.

Thank you so much! That makes me feel a lot better and sort of explains it to me a little bit!

Currently my upload speed is .38 mbps and my download is 4.89 mbps…
