Does the Chime micro SD store all motion and video footage or will the doorbell SD store it?

Hi, I’ve noticed that if you purchase a doorbell that has its own on board storage / an SD card or eMMC built-in storage it will only record onto the doorbells storage, even though you get a chime with it that has a slot for an SD card.
I know that these two doorbells will only record onto the Wi-Fi chimes SD card.
