Hi, new to the eufy cam community. I just purchased four S340 cameras and a S380 Homebase 3 package for our mountain cabin. We use Starlink for internet/WiFi and have the router located in an outbuilding for better sky (satellite) access. The Homebase 3 wants plugged into the modem but thats not real handy. My question is, can the Homebase 3 connect to the Starlink modem thru WiFi? Thank you for ypur help and please feel free to ask questions for clarity.
Hi, first time setup requires the home base 3 to be connected to your router / Wi-Fi via an ethernet cable, after that’s complete you can then connect it to your Wi-Fi and remove the ethernet cable.
Also your cell phone needs to be connected to the same Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz band.
Thank you!! It will be a bit of a pain to cable into my modem but I’ll do it to get the initial setup complete. Thank you very much for your advice, I really appreciate it.
How far is the out building to your home? You could just carry the HomeBase 3 to the outhouse and connect an Ethernet cable to it for the setup, once done then configure it to use your Wi-Fi.
Unplug it, then bring it to your home and powered it up.
Thank you!! I’m actually up at the cabin site and was getting ready to try that exact idea!
I’m tickled you think that will work too.
It’s raining right now but as soon as it stops I’ll try it and let you know how it goes. Thank you very much!! Great advice.
Quick update — The rain slowed way down so went out and connected HB3 direct to mesh router (Eero 6+) since that was only available port to Starlink router. Ran thru setup (went great and very easy to follow app instructions). Homebase 3 had to do an update so waited for that to complete successfully and went back out to main screen on app.
Thought I was home free to disconnected HB3 from Eero and power. Took unit back to cabin and powered up. Went thru setup but couldn’t get it to switch to WiFi. Read thru some Google help (Reddit) and saw where you have to switch to WiFi while still cabled to router.
Back out I went and hooked HB3 back to Eero and power. Waited for status light to go blue then went back into setup and easily switched to WiFi. Entered password, waited for unit to acknowledge connection and unplugged. Great instructions!!
Took HB3 back into cabin and powered up and it hooked right up to WiFi. Checked signal strength and it was “Great”. Now to get some cameras hooked up. Thank you so much for the guidance and support. Really appreciate it!!
