HomeBase 3 Randomly Drops SSD/HDD Extended Storage!

My HomeBase 3 randomly drops my 250GB SSD extended storage.

So far this month it has happened 3 times. One time seemed to be timed with the January 2, 2024 firmware update. But the other two times seemed random and not connected with anything.

The only time I realize that the extended storage has been dropped is when I go to the app and see the warnings that continuous recording requires a hard drive. Naturally, my reaction is “I have a hard drive installed!”.

The “fix” is to reboot/restart the HomeBase and the extended storage is recognized again. But this is NOT an acceptable solution.

Is this happening to anyone else? What can I do to fix this. Security cameras aren’t something that you can afford to have randomly go offline. This is a serious flaw/bug/defect that needs to be addressed.

Could it be my drive? I am using a high quality name-brand Samsung 250GB SSD.

Is my HomeBase 3 defective?

Try a different drive, if it still does it then the HomeBase is defective.

Yes, I’ll try that.

Fortunately I have a spare drive that I can use. But in general, it’s unrealistic to require a normal customer to troubleshoot this kind of issue by purchasing a new hard drive or SSD.

I’ll report back my results (which may take a while because this disconnect happens unpredictably and randomly).
