Got a notification earlier today that my SSD was removed from the Homebase. As such it reverted to the built in storage .When I got home I checked the SSD, & it was still there (duh). Shut down the HB, removed the drive, waited a few minutes & reinstalled. HB will not see the drive. So, uninstall again, hook up to 2 different computers, & drive appears to be alive. (FYI drived was purchased new). Powered on HB, without SSD installed let it sit for 10 minutes, shut down & tried reinstall the SSD again. No love. I then proceeded to reset the HB, rejoin all the cams, & installed the SSD once again. Still will not recognize the drive. Short of buying another drive any other steps I am missing?
Sounds like you’ve done everything to see what’s up with that…
How long have you had the SSD in the HB3 and what brand, size and power requirements? 5V/1.2A is Max power.
You could try to format it on the computer to see if that helps, but like you said you probably would need to insert a new drive to find out if the HB3 has an issue.
I didn’t notice in your description will it allow you to format it? Or is it just not seeing it at all? Some people have said SSD don’t last as long as a HDD but it’s strange that a computer recognizes it but will it run it. Maybe buy a new HDD on Amazon I just bought a 1TB western digital blue for $45. in the US
and it’s working perfectly (for now at least) nice thing with buying from amazon you can return it if it doesn’t. How old is your home base and SDD?
The HB & SSD were bought in June. The HB doesn’t see the drive at all so a reformat isn’t an option. The PC sees there is a device, but not as a drive.
Sounds like a bad SSD to me then
