Hi Eufy team,
I have several outdoor and indoor cameras connected to a HomeBase 3 using Eufy’s proprietary Wi-Fi link. However, the HomeBase 3’s performance drops significantly when multiple cameras are streaming and it is running object detection at the same time.
One workaround I’ve tried is connecting the indoor cameras to the HomeBase 3 through the Multi-Bridge network, since my indoor mesh network provides stronger coverage and higher bandwidth. This helps offload traffic from the HomeBase 3 and preserves bandwidth for the outdoor cameras by splitting the load across two paths.
However, I’ve noticed that the indoor cameras still tend to reconnect directly to the HomeBase 3, even after switching it to Normal mode to reduce signal strength and assigning static IPs to the cameras.
Has anyone experienced this issue? And is there any way to force the indoor cameras to stay on the Multi-Bridge network permanently?
Hi there. Yes, I’m facing the same issue. One outdoor camera keeps going offline, with the HB3 link showing as weak (no idea why - it’s only 7 metres away with just the external wall it’s mounted on in the way), so I’ve repeatedly enabled a multi-bridge connection to an access point that’s within 3 metres of the device. It works every time, with the connection showing as full. However, at some point thereafter, it seems to revert to its direct connection with the HB3, and the camera goes offline again. I’ve raised it with Eufy, but I’m yet to receive a reply that I can make sense of (see excerpt below - they suggest I explore “further technical support options”, but don’t mention how or with whom), so if you’ve managed to find a solution, I’d be grateful to find out what it was!
Given the details you’ve shared, it seems like you’ve taken all the necessary steps to ensure optimal connectivity. Since the camera keeps reverting to a direct connection to the HomeBase 3, it might be beneficial to explore further technical support options to address this specific issue. They will be able to offer more specialized assistance and potentially provide a solution tailored to your setup.
From what I understand, the “offline” issue is mostly caused by unstable Wi-Fi communication between your HB3 and your Eufy device. In most cases, it can recover on its own within 48–72 hours.
The HB3 has two operating modes, and Performance Mode usually works best.
A 7-meter distance is generally not considered out of range, but walls can weaken the signal depending on the material.
If all of your Eufy devices are using 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, the best way to improve stability is to reposition the HB3 or the camera—ideally by adjusting placement vertically (not just horizontally) to get a stronger signal.
One additional workaround I recently found: if you have a Eufy S350 indoor camera (which supports 5 GHz Wi-Fi), you can use the Multi-Bridge feature to reduce reliance on the HB3 and maintain a more stable connection. However, you’ll need to separate your router’s 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks into two different SSIDs. A combined/mixed SSID usually won’t work well.
Thanks for this, pet14041. Really helpful! I’m using the performance mode, as suggested, and the signal seems to be much more stable now (fingers crossed). In fact, since I posted yesterday I have received a reply from a real human at Eufy, who confirmed that the nonsense in their previous email was, as I thought, owing to AI not really being intelligent at all. The good news is that they have identified the multi-bridge reconnection to the HB3 despite its relatively weaker signal as a known issue of the camera’s firmware ("This is a known issue in your camera’s firmware (v2.0.9.8) "). A new update is on the way in February that will allow us to lock our connection to an access point without the system switching it back to the HB3 (see excerpt from email below).
Long-Term Solution: Upcoming Firmware Update
Our engineering team is finalizing a firmware update (v2.1.0.0+) that will:
Add a “Force Access Point” option: Allows you to manually lock the camera to the preferred network (no longer automatically switching).
Improved Throughput Detection: Reduces false switching by optimizing how the camera detects network quality.
This update will be released in February 2026 and will be available through the eufy app. We will notify you directly after the update is complete.
That should sort it for me, so looking out for it.
Is the firmware update for the HB3 or the cameras?
Been looking for a compatibility list of cameras that support Multi-Bridge technology and eufy doesn’t seem to have one.
From my research only a few cameras supported.
eufycam 3 (S330), floodlight cam E340, eufycam E330, indoorCam S350.
What else?
It’s likely related to an HB3 firmware update. As far as I know, most Eufy indoor cameras support Multi-Bridge, so they can theoretically connect to the HB3 through your home Wi-Fi network.
