Wishing there was a way to turn off the multi-bridge connection without once again, getting up on the ladder to access the cameras. I have a second Homebase 3 which is within 15 feet (4.5 meters) from my two cameras tied to the second HB3. Because I once had the cameras connected to the HB3 via a multi-bridge connection, for the life of me, I cannot find a way to turn off multi-bridge so the cameras can connect to it directly. By the way, that HB3 is connected to ethernet.
I don’t think there is a way to manually turn it off once you have activated it.
Perhaps in a firmware update they may make it possible to do so though.
I think the only option you have now is to do a factory reset on the HB3 and hope that works…
Nope
Thanks. In my mind, a design flaw. Once you turn it on, don’t move the HB3 closer to your cameras.
I’ve thought about this since I have mesh wifi and if I could have 2 HB3s setup, one on different satalites for different cameras
How do you even set up a multi bridge connection. I have terrible wi and a large property and I’m wondering if multi bridge could help…
I initially did it with my S3 Pro camera on the WiFi setup. It gave me the option then to set up MB access.
If you have bad wifi, multi bridge probably won’t help.
I was thinking… Since you can’t turn off multi bridge, what if you went into the Wi-Fi settings for multi-bridge and changed the Wi-Fi name SSID to something that doesn’t exist.
You would think then it would only be able to connect to the HB3 now.
Oh, so does the S3 Pro then act as a beacon (is that the right term?) and that other devices can communicate with to relay back to HB? To make a sort of “mesh” (?) network with cameras? I only learned about the S3 Pro network features after I bought the wrong thing (S3). I figured I’d rather have wireless cameras for easy install. But I think I should have started with the S3 Pro system and then added on wireless cameras, further afield, to that. Assuming I had a decent internet connection, I wonder how much farther that would allow me to extend the range of camera coverage?
As far as internet, I have AT&T’s top tier plan: 5Mb/1Mb. Yes. You read right. It’s criminal. And stupid. I’m working on a solution to that. And hoping that solving that, maybe I could add the S3 pro, then extend the range to another camera. I’d like to get 1000ft+ away, but that’s probably unrealistic.
Anyway, thanks for the help. Did you figure out your problem? Could you delete the camera from the system and add it again? I don’t know if that’s feasible or what you would lose in the process…
Just had a thought: if you turn off power to the multibridge (broadcasting) cameras (maybe you could even flip a breaker and avoid the ladder) then restart your bridged (receiving) cameras, they will be unable to connect to their former multibridge network cameras. From there, could you change their network to your main network, and from there connect them to your HB3?
what works for me and what i have noticed, is if you disconnect your wifi (the one the cameras are connected too), the cameras revert back to connecting to the HB3 directly. I have only noticed this because i have had some recent issues with my access point losing power. so cameras reverted back to connecting to the HB3.
Thanks. I’ll give that a try. My Homebase 3 just updated the firmware to 3.6.4.3 and things seem a bit more stable so may give it a couple days before trying your method.
As far as I know other cameras cannot use it to to relay back to the HB3 like a wireless repeater.
If your camera is too far from the HomeBase to achieve a stable connection then the Multi-Bridge option will allow you to have that camera connect to your home’s Wi-Fi, to create a bridge, (as long as it has a stable/better connection) where the camera will send its info to your home’s Wi-Fi then your home’s Wi-Fi will send it to the HB3.
As the photo shows:
I wasn’t aware that the S3 Pro has Multi-Bridge technology.
I thought only the eufyCam E330 professional was the only one?
