I’m having an issue with my Eufy S330. The camera only records in a purple color tone. I’ve already tried resetting it and fully charging it, but unfortunately, that didn’t solve the problem.
My warranty expired just about a month ago, but I was wondering if there’s any way to fix this issue or if there are any repair options available.
The purple tone might indicate that the infrared cut filter has become stuck or is not engaging properly.
Try this first. Place the camera in a completely dark room, cover the lens, and listen carefully while switching between Day Mode and Night Mode in the app. You should hear a faint click as the IR filter moves (I can hear it in my cameras through the built-in microphone). If you don’t hear a faint click, gently power-cycle the camera (remove and reinsert the battery or solar connection) and test again. Sometimes, a brief exposure to sunlight or warmth can help if the mechanism is lightly jammed by moisture.
If the purple tint persists, the IR filter or sensor assembly may have failed. Even though your warranty just expired, it’s still worth contacting Eufy Support as their security cameras are expected to last more than the stated warranty period.
Try this too, shine a flashlight at the front of the camera lens.
Ruff House the camera.. well… not really.
Try giving it a slight wrap near the front of the camera lens on the side areas with your hand or a stick, it may just jar loose the IR lens.
