If you have a camera or doorbell that seems to start recording late, you could try using a eufy motion sensor further away, to trigger the camera via automations. Here’s how I did it #motionsensor
Excellent. Thank you.
Are all eufy camera or doorbells supporting the eufy motion sensor to trigger recording ?
If the cam or doorbell is homebase 3 compatible then yes
Thank you
This is like pre recording the door bell e340 already has a 5 second pre record feature if connected to power
Thanks for your help I have been thinking and looking for a way to trigger my cam to start recording before something passes because by the time it gets triggered if at all it’s only a brief view of the subject so I can put this up and get a trigger to start recording. I have a question how far away can I put this device is it reliable on the WiFi connection ? I would think so I have a problem perplexing driving down my private road so I will need to in some way make it waterproof or something any suggestions please Thanks PS I have watched several of your videos on the community section and you mentioned a Facebook group or something how do I see more content of what you have posted or available? I want to say again Thanks.Dale
Hey Dale - the distance all depends on how strong your homebase signal is and if it’s in a clear line of site to the sensor. Some people have managed to waterproof these with silicone or inserted into a box/covering.
Here is the Facebook group
I think I’ll give this a try
It’s very useful - keep us posted on how you get on!
That’s really helpful and so obvious now you’ve pointed it out. I’ve got two sitting downstairs never use them before, but maybe it’s time.
It’s a remedy for sure
I think someone said you need the Homebase to use this. I find that doorbell ring has a delay and it’s annoying…. I don’t have the Homebase unfortunately but I do know the camera has a recording system that can record before doorbell is pressed
A very informative video! Unfortunately I’m not on Facebook (shock horror lol) but quick question, can I use this without Homebase and my camera that has battery pack?
I was thinking of putting it in under my Carport or up high on my Roof and put it in a air tight plastic tough box that is made to have a grommet in the bottom and side for wiring. I was wondering about airflow and if it would over heat in the sealed tough Case or install it under the Carport and put it under and inside a plastic bucket or Tupperware container that has a lid and leave some holes in the bottom or just not secure the lid all the way or even just a water Proof plastic Bag? I was thinking of putting it in My mustang but the steel would stop some of the signal . Please let me know what you think.? PS , I am sorry for not responding sooner but for some reason I have not been able to access my account and I just figured it out! Thanks to all of you and your help and Support!
Thanks
I saw that people can get a motion sensor and install it further away from the camera and program for it to set of the cameras that you want to when it’s triggered! I hope to get a few of them from eufy when they are on sale and available . I have recently gotten my next-door neighbors WYFI info to get better reception on the other side of my property! He asked if I could let him know if my cameras get triggered and it’s something that is a concern to give him a heads up and if I didn’t mind to keep him up to date on our family of Deer because he has seen them eating his wild Strawberries and grass in his backyard! Let me know if this helps or works for you guys! Thanks Dale
The sensor produces very little heat so putting inside a box shoukd be fine
