So at best that an iPhone 7, any device after had 64Gb or now 128Gb as the base model
The app is for more than just a camera. It’s also for the alarm system, its supports more than just one type of camera. It supports more than just one type of Homebase. Its supports more than just one doorbell with or without a Homebase. There’s also smart locks and parcel drop boxes. All this needs to be coded in to the app. That coding takes up space. And then there’s automation/geofencing and everything else that makes it work. You might not need everything the app can control but it still gets downloaded.
Perhaps it’s time to upgrade your device to one that Apple still supports with firmware updates and also has more storage.

  1. Built-in AI and Device Drivers: Eufy uses local AI for things like face detection, human/animal/motion recognition, and device compatibility (doorbells, cameras, sensors, etc.). These features are packaged into the app itself rather than downloaded later.
  2. Preloaded UI Elements & Assets: To support high-res thumbnails, animations, tutorials, and a smooth interface for various device types, the app might preload a lot of graphical and video content.
  3. Multi-language Support: Eufy ships globally, and language packs for different regions may be built-in rather than downloaded on demand.
  4. Embedded SDKs: It also bundles third-party SDKs for cloud connectivity, push notifications, encrypted video handling, etc., which can bulk up the size.
  5. Offline Functionality: Some of the functionality is designed to work even without internet access (like accessing saved video clips from a local HomeBase). So instead of relying on cloud-hosted code, more is baked into the app.

I SO COMPLETELY AGREE. I am so sick of enormous apps that demand so much space from the start. Then figure in updates, plus add the size of your own data and cache. I just want an option for a simple, nimble lightweight app that will quickly and efficiently do the basics. Please, eufy?

Thx for the explanations, I can see when more local processing needs more memory space.

I would like a bigger phone too. Just the current device prices is unreachable for me.
