Direct sunlight is optimal, overcast will reduce solar charging power.
What’s the temperature outdoors?
0℃ / 32°F will stop the battery from being charged due to power management chip inside, that protects the battery.
Thanks for the confirmation, I assumed it should work… as even my old blink did work when it was cloudy.
The temp is 5 degrees.
I’ve logged it with support and provided logs.
Hopefully they can confirm a fix or I’ll be sending it back.
I had a similar issue with mine and had to contact support and send my logs.
they said that I should try and locate the camera in a place that is more exposed to sunlight.
what I have found is that the camera does need to be in direct sunlight and that over cast does not generate sufficient intensity for the solar panel to charge…. Not ideal. Just wished they be more honest about the statements they make.
I have also asked about the extension cable and when the 24/7 will be available…. Originally it was November and now it’s December….
Thanks for the info.
I agree… it would be better if they were up front and honest/ realistic and state that it will only charge in direct sunlight… it’s frustrating when you see they advertise that it will charge in low light / ambient when this is not the case.
There are device that will eg Blink ! Which is a far inferior product but their Solar technology actually work in low light/ does not need bright sunlight.
