I have a Home Base 380 with 6 S340 Cameras. Now that winter has set in one of the cameras is no longer charging. The problem camera is facing North, I had the solar panel facing Northeast and it is not producing enough power now. I moved the panel to Northwest side and it still is not charging. I’m thinking of adding a second solar panel using a Y Splitter or purchasing a Solar Plus Panel. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Hello, my friend. If your device is experiencing battery life issues, you might want to check out this post to improve your device’s performance. https://inspire.eufy.com/web/topic/3439649
I have 2 S340 cameras out in front of my home. One is a year old and the other is a few months old. I am experiencing charging issues with both of them. So far I have identified 2 causes that affect charging:
- Not pushing in the Solar panel connector all the way.
- The camera stops charging when the temperature falls below freezing. The cameras work pretty well all the way down to -10F, but will not charge even when in full sunlight. Every Jan/Feb I have to recharge them manually which lasts for about 3 weeks. Although solar panels should be more efficient in the cold, the S340 will not resume charging until the temperature rises above around 30F. This may be a temperature sensor issue and should be an engineering change fix. I do not think this has anything to do with internal battery life.
I experienced the same issue here wirth the S340 camera. Tt functioned well up for the past two months. Then came temperatures below 32degrees Fahrenheit daily and the camera will not charge and seems to burn through the battery power in the cold. My S340 is mounted 10’ high on a gutter on the north- east side of my home.
I tried turning the camera off during the day, and on at night for coverage and preserve power. I had to climb and remove the camera after 5 weeks to charge inside via USB.
Now temps the last two days are in the mid 30 degree range and lucky to get 2-3 percent charge from 4-5 hours of sunlight. Granted the days are getting longer.
This unit hs been frustrating due to the facts that specifically mention the consistent message/troubles of no charging below 32 degrees. This might have made me buy the an additional Eufy S220. It has functioned exceptionally well during this cold spell and I could easily remove the camera to charge if I needed to. I am considering moving and swapping the camera’s at t his point.
Eufy support is a copy and paste process and continued to downplay this flaw in the S340. I am just past my warranty date and will try to troubles shoot on my own. So far I have a better charge after a couple slight modifications yesterday!
I thought I had purchased a serious all weather camera in the S340. In my humble opinion, the Eufy. s220 is a better all weather year round camera than the S340.
It falls short of ideal coverage for my front yard.
If I ran a heat tape in my gutters I might have mitigated this issue (for the past 33 years, I have never needed one.)
Good luck to anyone and everyone in cold weather states with the Eufy S340.
