I am happy with the s40 so far but one of the two I have installed doesn’t get enough sunlight and I’m worried that during winter they will both charge considerably less.
So I was wondering why there isn’t a hardwire option on these or the ability to add another solar panel.
The whole wireless solar charging concept is great if it truly charge to 100% without any interference such as manually topping up the batteries.
I don’t have the S40, but you probably could rig something up. I would most likely do this…
Cut the rubber weather seal in ½ or just enough so that you can plug in a USB charging cable. Then put silicone sealant around that to make it waterproof. Snake the other end into your home or drill a hole to get it inside. Then when it need to charged just connect it to your USB charger or portable USB charger.
I did this with my battery doorbell.
Same problem for me , it charges so slowly , I don’t have full day of sun on this one , but they said 2 hours of sun would do the trick. I loose 5 % power everyday and I can’t charge that up. So I was also thinking of getting the solar panel on it , but it’s not supported …
