My SmartDrop has a few issues I have found with it, but it seems I am not able to join it to HomeBase 2 as described in some Eufy FAQs. Recorded video is only available if you sign-up (pay) for their cloud recording service. See below for issues I have found. Please let me know if I am missing something. It’s definitely possible there is some other setting buried in the app that I have not been able to find.
1 - Recordings not available through the app without subscription to their cloud recording service. Original description and FAQ say it could be linked to HomeBase 2. I don’t see that feature. Would love if it supported HomeKit, but it was never disclosed to have this feature. Though, I’d still like to have it. Also, there is no SD card support like some of their other cameras have.
2 - Notifications are crazy. There is no way to control notifications. I must be missing something here. I had to turn off “motion detection” to be able to kill the notifications. Probably won’t be so bad when I put it on the porch, but in the house, I am getting notifications during my testing without the ability to disable. Hope a future app or firmware update takes care of it.
3 - The video preview in the app is “squished”. Because of some extra info in the app overview (like number of deliveries), the video is distorted to fit in a pre-sized space. NOTE: Playback of video does not suffer from this problem.
