So, is the home base worth buying? Does it enhance the security provided by cameras?

Yes it does. It totally helps with consolidating all your cameras and if you add a hard drive, it adds a massive amount of memory without having to buy space on the cloud. It seems to help with playback lag too. Probe cause of the increased capacity. It’s worth it. Make sure you have cameras that are compatible. I found out some of my older ones weren’t and I’m replacing with new ones.

It also adds face detection and cross stitching where it tracks across multiple cameras and stitches all recordings into one.

It does a great job stitching footage of people moving around your covered areas. For that reason i got it. The face recognition to me is still not accurate.
