Trying out homebase3

Got my hands on a homebase3 and this is what I can review from my preliminary use so far. I have two solar s4 cameras and both suffer from the fixed lens fogging up but you can read that in my other posts…With the homebase3 addition, I rolled the dice to see if it had any improvement with being incorporating the cameras with the homebase3 and so far it has.

Pros: It does improve the access of the video alarm captures. Before without the homebase3, I was accessing the stored videos from the cameras directly and it was just overloading that process. Sometimes I was able to view the video and other not…very frustrating. I think being a solar camera on top of trying to access the live and or captures was a hit or miss. Now with the homebase3, the access is like instant and no delays with the de-encryption and was now able to bump the records to 4k with no issues.

Cons: I would say the only difference is a slight 30sec delay rather than 10sec before without the homebase3 when an event is captured to when it is notified on my phone and/or accessible to view on the app. I believe it is a trade off in the transfer from camera to homebase3 but I can live with that.

As with the facial AI addition…eh not so impressed. Seems more of a pain to setup so I don’t bother with it. Buy do have to say the AI tracking and ID has been really good like 99% good…sometimes it thinks my mailbox on a post is a person but from the detection icon you can click on it and tell it if what it captured was a person or not but not sure yet as to its effectiveness in manually correcting the AI. I also upgraded the storage to a 128gb ssd and it seems to be fine also…more reviews as time goes on.

Also adding to my evaluation…I notice that sometimes the communication between the cameras and homebase doesn’t update…still looking into that.
