Video doorbell and wifi extender

Hello -

We have just received a Eufy S330 (Amazon order) and have been setting it up.

Wifi coverage is not brilliant in all parts of our home, so we have a wifi extender/booster (Joowin). If our wifi name is BT1234567, then the repeater creates two additional options to log in - BT1234567-2W and BT1234567-5W. Our phones will log on to whichever is strongest and available in various areas of the house.

Our problem is that the Homebase 2 is plugged into the router, so is always BT1234567. But if the phones are not on that but have connected to either of the other two (the 2W or 5W) versions, then the phone thinks it is no longer connected to the Homebase or the camera. What’s more, once this has happened the phone seems to ‘forget’ all of the current settings and we have to repeat all of the QR code scanning stuff.

This is obviously not workable (we cannot lose the wifi connectivity throughout the rest of the house, and the video doorbell does not seem to work if we retain the wifi range extender) - but I cannot imagine that nobody else has had this problem.

If anyone else has any experience of this, or if it sounds like I am setting it up completely incorrectly (!), please help! Would a different wifi repeater somehow solve both issues?

I have crreated a ticket with Eufy asking the same, but just got a reply back saying they were about to update the app! Not very useful.

Thanks - Jon

Hi, I’ll try to help.
Since you’re HomeBase is connected via Ethernet cable your phone also needs to be connected to your routers Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz band, not your repeaters Wi-Fi for the initial setup.
After that your phone can be on any Wi-Fi afterwards.

The doorbell doesn’t connect to your home’s Wi-Fi or your Wi-Fi repeater / extender it connects to the HomeBase2 via its own Wi-Fi signal that it puts out.

Do the setup next to the HomeBase2.
