If you’re trying to increase milk supply and have already ruled out normal milk output

fluctuations, this resource is for you. The most effective improvements in milk supply usually come from consistency and effective milk removal.

There’s no one magic trick to increasing milk supply.

Where To Start

The best place to start increasing pump output is determining the cause of low pump output.

Many factors influence milk supply. Figuring out what’s influencing the decrease you noticed will help you decide which path to move forward with.

Ask yourself some questions:

● Are you going more than 3-4 hours during the daytime without milk removal?

● Are you going more than 4-5 hours at night with no milk removal?

● Are you removing milk 8-12 times in a 24 hour period?

● Are you using a high quality pump?

● Are you using the appropriate flange size?

If you’re unsure the answer to some of these questions, check the dashboard on your eufy app to see your recent pumping habits.

Consistency Is Key

Research tells us that the body responds best to frequent, consistent milk removal. Milk removal is expected 8-12 times a day, or every 2-3 hours. This includes the time overnight.

Another way to look at this is to pump any time your baby gets a bottle. This is a great perspective when you are also nursing in addition to pumping.

Effective Milk Removal

Along with consistency, efficiency is important in maintaining and increasing milk supply. If you’re pumping 8 times a day, but using a poor quality pump or flange size that doesn’t fit, you likely won’t see a change to your milk supply.

  1. Pump quality: a high quality pump makes the difference when removing milk.

  2. Pump settings: being able to switch back and forth between massage and expression mimics the baby at the breast.

[eufy Smart Tip] Finding your perfect flow is simple with the eufy Baby App. We feature a variety of expert-endorsed pumping rhythms designed to match your body’s biological needs—because every mom is different, there’s always a rhythm that’s just right for you to help comfortably boost your daily supply.

  1. Pain: pain reduces the amount of milk your body releases.

  2. Pump parts: pieces for your pumps should be replaced frequently, according to the manufacturer’s guidance.

Inserts Sizing: The Secret to Pain-Free & Efficient Pumping

While the flange acts as the outer foundation, the inserts inside are the real game-changers. The size of your insert is what directly touches your nipple and creates the precise seal. Using the wrong insert size is the #1 cause of friction, pain, clogged ducts, and a sudden drop in milk output.

The Key to Success: Swapping for the Right Insert Size

For the vast majority of moms, comfortable pumping is achieved by inserting the correct sized insert into the standard flange. Your eufy pump conveniently comes with a nipple-measuring tool and multiple insert sizes to help you easily find your perfect match.

  1. Start with your measured insert size. Always priotize your physical comfort and milk output first.

  2. Compare sizes if in pain. If you experience pinching or discomfort, try swapping to an insert that is one size smaller. More often than not, pumping pain means your insert is too large, not too small.

  3. Remeasure monthly. It’s a great practice to measure your nipples for the first time before delivery. Postpartum, we recommend remeasuring about once a month, as hormonaly changes can cause your nipple size to shift over time.

Note: in the rare case you find that your nipples are too big for the flanges that come with your eufy pump, you can purchase a larger sized replacement flange.

Other Tips For Milk Supply

Massaging the breasts while pumping helps increase hormone production. The eufy S2/S2 Pro has this feature built in.

Nourishing your body is important when producing milk. Make sure you eat enough while focusing on protein and healthy fat intake. Avoid skipping meals.

Drink enough to avoid feeling thirsty.

Sleep when your baby sleeps. Your body needs energy. Sometimes it’s necessary to go to sleep earlier than normal to compensate for waking during the night.

Many families find using lubricant when pumping helps increase output and improve comfort.

When To Seek Help

Don’t judge your milk supply by one pump session. Most changes don’t happen immediately. Changes in milk supply should be noted within a few days.

Here’s when you should reach out to a trusted provider:

● No increase in supply despite following the above

● Milk output is lower than baby’s intake

● Baby is showing signs of not getting enough (ie. slow weight gain, low diapers)

● Breast/nipple pain

● Persistent engorgement

A Note For Moms
Building a milk supply can be tricky. Try not to stress through the process. You’ve got this!
