Anyone else home base 3 fan start running constantly? Never heard it on before. now it runs for maybe a hour turns off for 10 minutes then back on again for a hour then off again for 10 minutes. Been doing this for several days now. Nothing has changed on my end ( no new device although I have a lot 13 cameras 6 sensors) I’m okay with it if it means things will work better. It’s not hot or even warm just wondering if something is about to fail. I don’t want to reset it because I want it to stay running if it’s a good thing. Please someone respond
Yes, I had this about a week ago. The Homebase 3 unit was not hot to touch but running a fan inside for an unknown reason. I could feel a small breeze at the top. I shut it down and restarted it and it has not done the same again (that I have noticed). Very strange. I wondered if maybe the 500GB Crucial SSD that I have is getting old, but doesn’t really explain why a fan would run. Reedit says try vacuuming the vents or replace the internal fan.
It’s clean doesn’t need vacuuming lol. Don’t know if it’s just coincidence but everything is working good for now. Lately I’ve had to reset home base and cameras a lot for one issue or another so was thinking maybe fan is helping so not ready to restart HB3 yet but I also don’t want it to kill it. I have a small computer component fan that I’m going to try putting under my cable modem now that runs very very warm borderline hot. Hopefully a Eufy rep might chime in too. Thanks for responding hope everything is going good for you on the other side of the pond.
Good luck. It’s hot here in London, UK, up in the 90s (34c) which is unusually hot, but all of my equipment is running fine, I just need to get a portable AC unit.
Hot and humid here in eastern Massachusetts
a/c a must unfortunately I work in construction and sometimes inside a new building can be even hotter than outside. I’ve been rewiring a 100 year old house people bought for 2.5 million and probably spending another million to upgrade everything but saving all the original wood work.rewiring without taking down walls or ceilings is not easy. The house had and was being used knob and tube wiring which if you don’t know was the very 1st type of house wiring. The 3rd floor is brutal hot. We are at the finish stage now. . I’ve been after the builder to get the a/c equipment installed for months knowing this was coming so I can wire it. The painters have a problem with paint when it’s 100% humidity inside. Well enough with my sob story lol
I will have to look out for that. I have mine stationed in the hallway.
SSDs do run a lot hotter than hard drives, so that could have potentially been part of your problem.
When I get around to bringing it back upstairs I’ll have to keep an ear out for this. My son loves to keep up freezing at night lol so hopefully it’s keeping the thing cool for now. Now I’m wondering if I should get a heating for the SSD just to be in the safe side.
Thevies always have book bags
I had the same thing happen. Noticed the fan running for quite some time. I felt the unit, it did not seem hot. I thought maybe it was updating firmware so I let it run for about another 30 minutes. Then I powered the unit down (unplugged it). Let it set for about 5 minutes and plugged it back in. I’ve not had the issue since. This happened about 10 days ago.
The only time I have had this is when I have been using a hard drive with peak summer temperatures and there wasn’t enough room around the unit to keep it cool.
Haven’t had any issues though still pretty new and has a 5TB drive in it. If it kicks on in the future I will mention it.
