I have five of these cameras and only two received the new firmware update in the wee early morning, the two that did get the update are the two oldest cameras. I suppose the others will receive theirs soon.
System version 1.0.7.3 to new version 1.0.7.6
Unfortunately the update doesn’t specify exactly what bug it’s fixing, I didn’t realize there was anything to fix?
I don’t work for them but the fact it’s the oldest cameras might be meaningful, it’s not at all uncommon for products to have changes to internal hardware (like newer chips) even while it’s the same product, might be the update only got rolled out yet for the “old” version of that cam
I’ve had SIX of these Outdoor Cam Pros brick on me updating from both 1.0.7.3 and from factory (1.0.4.4 I think). I’m using the iOS version. All the other guys I found with bricked Outdoor Cam Pros are using iOS too. I was wondering if they have a bug in the firmware, or in their newly-revamped app. And if it was an iOS or Android thing. May be the app that performs the update!
I may be too chicken to try the Android app to update it, but this helps with my investigation.
Blinking purple light every 20 seconds or so. Stuck in an infinite boot loop. Holding the sync button down, tapping it endlessly, pulling power, letting them sit, nothing helped. Right now, it seems with this model it may not be the firmware itself, but the iOS app doing updates incorrectly. Everyone I’ve found with dead cameras like me uses the iOS version, and everyone without issues is using the Android.
That sucks…
I do find it hard to believe that just because of the phones operating system that the camera would bork itself doing a firmware update?
The app (to me thinking) itself really doesn’t have anything to do with the cameras firmware update, yeah you could initiate one through the app or when the camera is being first set up, but after that the camera itself will initiate a firmware update check and if available take it.
Then again, I’ve read in past that some iOS users have had issues trying to add devices to the app, and if they tried with an Android system they were able to add the device.
Have you tried… while holding the Sync button down plugging in the power adapter?
Are any of the cams under warranty still?
The hold on power-up doesn’t change anything, same purple blink. The iOS factor with this specific camera doing a firmware update is just the only common denominator I’ve found for those of us with dead OCPs. I’m keeping in touch with some people currently replacing cameras with Eufy with the same issue, constant bricking over and over. They just released the new version of the Eufy app, and I assume these cameras interact with the app to do updates. If you plug in a camera without adding it to the app/account, they won’t (and can’t) autoupdate.
