I’ve bought a Eufy E30 floodlight camera and will be installing it this week.
My current Wi-fi setup has both 2.4 & 5GHz being broadcast on the same SSID.
I realise the Eufy E30 can only connect to 2.4GHz.
Have people found this setup works fine, or is it best to create & use a separate 2.4GHz only SSID for the Eufy E30?
I know my phone also has to be on the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network as the Eufy during setup. After setup, do I always have to switch the phone onto the 2.4Ghz to see the Eufy? I could see this being problematic as the phone connects to 5Ghz most of the time.
What’s the best way to go here without upsetting all the other WiFi clients which are currently working well on the combined SSID?
Hi, I don’t have experience with that as I’ve always had my Wi-Fi SSD name separated, cuz sometimes I like to choose what Wi-Fi I’m using.
Anyhow, I would just give it a try the way you have it now and yes your phone needs to be on the 2.4 GHz band for the connection of the camera also Bluetooth will need to be enabled in the process.
If everything works out well, you can let your phone go back to the 5G and you’ll still be able to watch video clips.
Thanks.
Barring any expert advice otherwise, my current plan is to turn off the 5GHz radio on the shared SSID, do the setup on 2.4, then turn the 5 back on.
