Work in progress
Is it correct you can’t find the Smart Display in the Eufy app or being able to connect it to the Homebase3? I would like to be able to use the memory of the Homebase3 in staid of it’s internal memory.

Currently, the Smart Display isn’t listed in the Eufy app and can’t be connected directly to HomeBase 3. Regarding storage, the Smart Display only temporarily caches events when it’s powered on and inactive to speed up playback; the rest of the time, it reads directly from HomeBase 3 without storing data internally.

Thank you @euf5294, that’s very helpful. My other question is about the ‘Smart’ part of the display. I have to admit I’m a bit disappointed on this. Now it feels like I ‘just’ have an Eufy app integrated in a nice screen. This compared to for example the Echo Show 8 or the Google Hub smart devices there is a huge difference looking at the functionality of the Eufy Smart Display.

Thank you very much for support in our product!

With the “Smart Display,” “Smart” refers not only to the convenience and ease of use when integrated with the eufy home security system. For example:

• Equipped with the Auto Live feature that provides real-time monitoring, reducing the need for manual checks.

• Includes a voice broadcast feature that alerts you with “Name of the familiar person is at the door” when it detects someone you know, keeping you informed at all times.

We also fully understand users’ expectations for more “smart” capabilities. We have shared these valuable suggestions with our product team for further evaluation and optimization, striving to offer you a more personalized and enhanced experience. Thank you again for your support, and we look forward to continuing to provide you with excellent service!

Good morning from the Netherlands, I am using the device for over a week now. When setting up I first was a bit confused by: “4. Sign in with your eufy account or with a login QR code.” I thought the “login QR code” revered to the Eufy app for authentication.

But when using my Eufy account details the setting up was easy. I am already using three Eufy cameras, after setting up these cameras I needed to add them to the Homebase3 to use it’s memory.

I expected the same thing for my Eufy smart display because it uses a memory card to store videos like the cameras do. So it’s more my experience with the cameras that caused me to expect the same thing with the Smart Display.

I hope this makes sense and answers your question. If you need any more information, just let me know.

I’ve been the proud owner of the Smart Display for two hours now, and apart from one small detail, I’m really impressed. Finally, I don’t have to grab my phone every time the doorbell rings—I can immediately see who’s at the door.

In principle, I find the voice announcements useful, but not in their current form. I have several cameras, and for example, when my daughter is playing in the garden during the day, I don’t want to hear “Person detected in the garden” every 10 seconds. At night, however, it does make sense—no one wants people wandering around their garden at night.

The cameras facing the street should also not announce people, because many people pass by and this would trigger constant movement notifications.

So ideally, the voice announcements should be configurable per camera and with time restrictions. I don’t think that’s currently possible, is it? If not, I’d be very happy to see this in a future update.

Very cool I’m planning on ordering one soon hoping for more people to post reviews to see if everything is working smoothly without any issues or defects. I agree that those notifications should be customizable though that would be annoying if it can’t be turned off

I’d like to briefly add one more thing. I just took another close look at the settings. It is possible to limit the automatic image display by time, which I think is great—but the implementation isn’t fully thought through.

Let’s say I have several cameras, including a door camera. This one should show the visitor’s image immediately when the doorbell rings. But if I set a time restriction for automatic image display, the screen stays dark—even when someone rings the doorbell. That doesn’t make sense to me.

Or imagine you have two cameras monitoring your garden and two cameras watching the driveway in front of your house. You might want the camera to notify you right away when a visitor arrives, but not constantly alert you when your child is playing football in the garden. Each camera should be configurable individually in this regard.

But I’m confident Eufy will surely improve this in the future.

Would temporarily disabling the auto live feature on the garden camera help resolve this issue?

Yes, that’s how I’ve currently solved it. However, it would be nice if there were another way to handle it in the future. :slightly_smiling_face:

Due to production factors and shipping uncertainties, there’s no confirmed date yet. However, we estimate it will be available in Canada by mid-August. The price has not been announced yet.

I’ve spent reports on Social Media that the Smart Display keeps crashing. When will there be a app/firmware update to fix this issue?

I have one more question. I’m using the HomeBase 3 with several connected cameras. The AI facial recognition works very well for all members of my family — meaning that whenever one of us passes a camera, a recording appears just seconds later with the correct name.

Based on this, I expected that enabling the “Recognize familiar faces” feature on the Smart Display would also result in names being announced, as described in the manual. However, no matter which family member is detected by a camera, the Smart Display always announces: “An unknown person has been detected.”

So my question is: What am I doing wrong?
