Home Base 2 External Storage

I’m done waiting for the USB storage expansion. I wanted a bunch of money on this poor solution. It’s going on Craigslist and I’m taking my new dollars elsewhere.

@AnkerSupport
You SHOULD answer the costumers questions, no?

Hi,

I see that claims of the ability for a user to use a usb drive to extend the storage space during the black friday and chrismas IN THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION PAGE. That’s why I bought the product. Now, I don’t see that claim on your product description page anymore. Did you falsely advertise to get us buy your product or what ?

Anybody save the screenshot on the claim ? I didn’t. Could anyone share with me ? Thanks.

So is the option of external storage ever going to materialise? EMMC has a limited number of write/erase cycles so being able to use external storage as the primary storage location would be a great option. Anyone know if the internal EMMC is replaceable or does the whole product become eWaste when it fails?

If you look on the wish list page there was feedback from Eufy saying they are not providing Homebase2 expandable storage option. It is being developed for Homebase3 which you will have to buy! Not happy.

From the Australian website, the comparison between Homebase 1 & 2, showing USB-A as a future release on Homebase 2.
Hope that helps.

Don’t hold your breath. Support knows nothing. And the developers will promise you that your eufy device will turn into gold

I did a lot of looking around before I bought the 2K indoor cams and then the Eufy cam 2C with homebase. I was a bit dissapointed to find out that the indoor cams do not link with the homebase! Having to set each cam to “away” mode is stupid, surely this is a simple fix from an IT point of view?

I recently had to ditch my whole iSmart system as the basically folded and stopped the app working, a shame as it worked well for years.

Fingers crossed for the fixes coming soon.

Mick

and is STILL being sold on Amazon UK with the expandable option as being clearly listed as 'COMING SOON"

Ring may have an longer battery life but the captured video clips are of no use in the UK for securing a conviction due to the fact of NOT having an embedded time & date stamp on the video. You only get a list of clips on the app showing the time period .I hope this helps.

Thanks!! That’s useful information! Although I don’t use Ring anymore. But I’ll definitely keep this point in mind when I buy my next video doorbell.

So??? got allot of Eufy stuff and was expecting that attaching my WD passport 2TB would work flawlessly, and even attaching my Syno NAS would work like a charm…but seems like, allot of people have been BFed by falsely adds and announcements. I Suggest that Eufy/Anker, when they have developed the HomeBase3 that lives up to the promises they gave on the HomeBase2, to sent out free of charge one HB3 to everybody that purchased a HB2 or a kit with a HB2 in it. Think it is disgraceful that @anker and @AnkerSupport @eufy have made statements about future release of both functionalities and non of them are yet implemented. Either they don´t care or their R & D sucks major. Get your S#¤t together and develop/fix what you have promised your customers!
16GB…are you freaking kidding me to support both your Cams and so forth.? Guess that is why you do not have the ability to custom change the compression on your Cams. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::rage:

I agree. I bought home-based 2 and 7 2c cams and I only get about 3 days of recordings, I had the impression that this feature was working and was almost the intire reason why I purchased them.

Having a USB port is extremely misleading on the central device. I also purchased thinking I could expand the storage, that way I would not need to worry about file sizes. I understand the thinking behind not needing a lot of storage, but 16GB(actual 15) is unreasonable for multiple cameras. And don’t put a forking USB plug on the back that is completely useless.

the worst: many youtuber echoed eufys empty promises as facts. And based on that I bought the devices.

No more eufy for me in the future.

I contacted Eufy Australia support last month about both expandable usb storage for Homebase 2 and solar panels.
Their response (28 June 2021) was that there is currently no word from Eufy overseas as to when expandable storage will be available.
They’re also still awaiting first shipment of solar panels to Australia with no ETA.

Back in October of 2020, The Eufy admin here @Mengdi posted that expandable storage was dead for Homebase 2. Not ever going to happen. They are supposedly working on a Homebase 3 product that may feature enhanced hardware and expanded storage. So no point beating a dead horse.
