Omni C28 not returning home after vac-only operation

I’m new to robot vacuums, so I’m hoping someone can help.

My dock has the required clearance around it. However, just outside the dock ramp, the floor transitions from laminate to carpet, with the carpet edge sitting right in front of the ramp.

I wondered if this would cause an issue, but when I mapped the house and ran a vacuum-and-mop cycle, the robot returned to the dock without any problems.

However, I’ve recently tried using vacuum-only mode, and I’ve found that it can’t return to the dock. It gets very close and starts to drive up the ramp, but then backs down and tries again repeatedly without successfully docking.

I assume the carpet edge is the cause, but if the robot can dock perfectly when it’s vacuuming and mopping, doesn’t that suggest this is more of a software issue than a physical one?

Has anyone else experienced this or found a solution?

I don’t know if this will help. I have a I robot that Is a e9 model and I use it to do one room that has carpet. When I first used it to clean the room when it was done I had the same problem you are having. The only thing I did was it would not dock. So I just made it keep trying to dock. It took many Trys however it finally docked. After that it seemed to adapt and it is docking the way it is supposed to. Good luck.
