S330 2k wired only doorbell (without battery)

Hi All,

Ive purchased the Eufy Dual 2k camera doorbell S330 (wired only) version with chime included. I set it up successfully with the app by powering it with the included usb cable.

I plan to wire it directly using a wall plug type transformer directly to the 2 terminals behind the doorbell ( as in picture)

I connected the A & B from the transformer to A & B on the back of cameradoorbell respectively.

The doorbell doesn’t power up.

Ive tested the transformer with a multimeter and its working.

I live in Dubai and the power output from wall socket is 230v 50hz AC.

As per my knowledge, the output power specifications of the transformer meet the camera doorbell inputs specifications.

Can anyone help me out if anything im doin is wrong??

Thanks.

Is the multimeter normal between point A and point B?What is the voltage reading on the multimeter?

Hello Kelvin,

Yes, the reading is normal, it shows 23V

Tnx
Mayur

The transformer power specs look good the doorbell should be powered.
Are the screw terminals tight?

 Hmmm…
Try the setup again, but this time don’t use the USB cable to power it.

Delete the device from the app, then add the device to the app, scan the barcode, then go outside and hook up the transformer wires to the rear of the doorbell and complete the app setup.

Hi,

I can delete the app, reinstall, etc…but the device should power up with the transformer for setup, right?

The screw terminals are pretty tight and once the transformer wires are screwed onto the device tightly, I’ve checked voltage across the screw heads also to reconfirm with multimeter. It’s reading 23 V. I suspect that the screw terminals are not doing proper contact internally with the motherboard as reported in some other forums (as shown in the pics). But I don’t want to disassemble the device to check as it would void warranty.

Any other suggestions I should be trying out?

Thanks.

Strange I have same spec plug ie. 24v 500ma in uk but I have eufy c31 doorbell and it works perfectly with the plug i suspect you may be right if it’s in warentee contact eufy

Hi Chris

Is your bell wired version only or with a battery and an option to wire it?

Battery with option to wire

Bell with option to wire it the new c31 release few months ago

Yes the doorbell should power up with the transformer connected, once you plug the transformer in the wall the blue ring around the push button will flash blue. The install manual doesn’t say to use the USB connection and doesn’t even mention the use for it,. It only shows a picture of it. Weird.

This is an inside of your doorbell

The bottom of the screws should make contact with the spring loaded terminals inside the DB. If that’s all working as it should be, the only other thing I can think of is that the power transformer doesn’t have enough amps.

Nothing useful to contribute other than to say I’m so impressed with the knowledge and helpful replies you’ve received!

That’s an AC power supply. Try a DC power supply

I think its the contacts issue, somehow power is not reaching the device only from the screw terminals. Device operates perfectly when connected by the USB power cable (this is used to set up the device initially.

Ive read DC power to terminals melts the plastic behind due to heat. Device requires AC power…if it was DC, twrminals would have been marked with a positive and negative.

Thanks everyone for your inputs. I guess ill take this up with Eufy support to claim warranty and replace or refund for the device. Cheers !!

Yes, the terminals want AC input, which will be fed to a switched-mode power supply to convert to DC, feeding it DC is liable to overheat the bridge diodes as the whole current goes through only half of them (since DC is constant it never inverts polarity to cause current to pass through the other half)

Yeah, I guess it’s best to do a warranty.
Two things I find strange though, The input power 16 - 24V ~ 0.4A or 19V ⎓ 0.6A.
The first is alternating current the later is direct current.
The USB cover, it has charging on it, charging what there’s no battery?

Well, please let us know how it works out for you.

Thanks JD for the reply. Yeah, didn’t notice the DC symbol for 19V. The USB cover says charging, but device doesn’t have a battery. This port is used for setting up the doorbell before fixing it on the wall and without transformer. I guess they don’t produce differently marked flaps for covering the USB ports on the battery version and on the wired ones
