Problems after sofware update

I do not have faith anymore in Eufy. I have bought a Tapo doorbell with bridge and it works perfectly!

My eufy doorbell is now just for looks. It doesn’t do anything, no motion notice at all. I bought a $6 video doorbell from Temu that did that and I thought this one would be better but its been one problem after another.

I recently noticed my eufy app had updated, but the update has completely ruined everything. The first problem I noticed was launching the app…it takes WAY longer than before to start, making it useless for quickly checking the cameras. It just takes far too long to start up now.
When the app has finally started, each camera is just white for a while until the last picture finally loads for each of them.
Playing the cameras video takes way longer to load, most often failing. When it does play the video, it’s stopping and starting, for example before you could see a car drive past fluently in real time, but now a car takes ages to go past, stuttering and freezing constantly.
Playing a recorded event has the problem with stuttering and freezing.
Clicking on the events tab brings up a white box for each event, until each image finally load one by one.
This is not an issue with my WiFi or internet. All these new problems are caused by the update and it’s made my security system pretty much unusable and useless.
As the old saying goes…If it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it.
If this is caused by adding in new features, well I don’t want them, everything was fine before.
I want the old version back ASAP.

In addition Tommy previous comment, I forgot to mention that there is also a longer delay for the alerts. Sometimes the alert comes through 20 minutes or so after the event. It was never like this before the update.
The update has ruined pretty much everything, starting of with a ridiculous app launch time.
If the new version is fine for some people, then that’s great, but please provide an option to roll back to the previous version for people like me who’s security system hasbbeen completely ruined.

Yay!

Eufy says they can’t roll back. @[tom11231] says you can download version 4.9 here:

There should not be any delays in fixing this. The solution is simple…provide another update the the previous version (the version that actually worked).
I’m going to look for another security system, as I’ve lost confidence in eufy now. I can’t see how this update got given the all clear, when everything is broken.
The problems immediately become apparent just by starting the app…it takes forever to start up !

Android app 5.0.22_5656 opens every time with a 3 seconds splash-screen, even if the app was already loaded = bad idea for a doorbell !
Sensor feedback = random, can take several minutes = very annoying.
Apple platform seems less troubled by this ā€œupdateā€

My last notification came with a delay of exact 30 minutes!
Eufy mailed me that in the second half of March there will be an update to fix these problems.

Another problem…I just opened the events page, but none were there and it said ā€œNo events this dayā€.
There were 21 events really. After closing the app and trying again, the events were there.

Same over here…

Since App upgrade, it crashes, can’t open it majority of times. No notifications from cameras, next door neighbour creeps around at night and now we have no security

How do you update

Bullshit

Just so you know they don’t care well over a month since it started with update

Same as others, having probs with the ā€˜new’ app, I’ve had Eufy doorbell cameras for a few years with very few probs, updated to the E340 last Aug. again no probs till today, realized that I had been updated to the new app and stupidly have to totally reinstall the bell and Minibase Chime, having lost not only all my settings but also yesterdays and nights video’s !! ( why ? this should not be required with just an app update!! )

So off I went to reinstall the bell, all went OK till the phone generated the code that needs to be read by the camera, it appeared to read it OK (I got the beeps ) so on to the next step to name the bell, easy…nope, the phone screen shows " code 404 page not available "…so the job stops there.

I uninstalled and re-installed the app, factory re-set both the bell and chime, formatted the card, to cover all eventualities, but just the same 404.

I have filled in the query form and will try phoning tomorrow.

The annoying thing is that I have bragged to friends and family at how good the dual camera is and a few are/were thinking of getting one, I’ve phoned/emailed them all to say hang fire until, or if the app debacle gets resolved in a timely manner.

As others have mentioned 1) this certainly hasn’t been fully tested, 2) it certainly is a P Poor update, 3) in the event of such problems there should be a simple, quick way to revert to the previous app…rant over.

I’m now about to see what Mr. Google can find with what is available with similar cameras,

They promised an update medio March to fix these problems. Hopefully they test it well before releasing!

Version 5.0.22 very slow on start-up and when trying to access cameras. Very frustrating when needing a quick view. Notifications very slow. App much slower than previous version.
